Gielas Publishing

Founded in 2020, Gielas Publishing is an independent publishing house based in Jerusalem. We publish fiction and nonfiction, as well as classics that belong on every reader’s bookshelf. Our books explore literature, spirituality, religion, culture, and the meeting of traditions across the Mediterranean and beyond. Our catalogue includes works of Christian theology and religion, as well as books engaging with the history and experience of interfaith encounter among the peoples of the Mediterranean and Levant.

Books Made for Readers, by Readers

At Gielas, we believe that good books deserve time, care, and attention. We publish books that we ourselves believe are worth reading, from new works of fiction and nonfiction to classics that continue to speak across generations. We hope to give each book the care it deserves and to make it available in a form that readers can return to and live with.

We pay particular attention to readability and strive to ensure that the text in our books is presented at a comfortable size and with generous enough spacing to avoid unnecessary strain on the eyes. Our current titles are not classified as Large Print editions for readers with low vision, but we hope to include Large Print editions in the Gielas catalogue in the future.

We Care for Nature

We believe that publishing should take account of the resources it uses. Our books are printed on FSC-certified paper sourced from responsibly managed forests, and our print-on-demand model allows books to be produced as they are needed, helping to avoid unnecessary print runs and unsold stock. We work with printing and distribution partners that are committed to reducing waste and developing more environmentally responsible practices, and we continue to look for ways to make our publishing more sustainable.
